Friday, October 25, through Thursday, October 31, 2024, the skies were clear, and the seas were calm, with waves no more than six feet high. Water and air temperatures continued to range around 80 to 86 degrees. However, most days, the North Wind began to blow. It blew 27 knots one day to show it had arrived as expected. However, it didn’t interfere with the fishing. If anything, it made the fish angry, and they just came to the surface ready for battle!

 Captain Alex, with Mates Saul and Roberto running the “FRIDAY BANK,” a 66-foot Viking, took Donald Marion Bell, Edward Harris, Parsons Miller I, James Carter Cribb Jr., and William Alan Grech 30 miles to the 160 Spot for four 35-pound Yellowfin Tuna that they caught on bait. It was a beautiful day, and they enjoyed every minute of it.

“LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Ray Winkler and Mate Jesus Winkler, took Kevin McCarty and Ripp Hardaway 30 miles to the 120 Spot. There, they had an exhilarating day catching and releasing One 250-pound Blue Marlin and One 100-pound Sailfish and landing Four Yellowfin Tuna in the 40-pound range, all on bait and at the same spot. The thrill of the catch was palpable, and they couldn’t have asked for a better crew or day.

“BILL COLLECTOR II” 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Niko and Mate Erick had guest Eric Leitzinger from Seattle, Washington, on the boat. They went to the Pedregalito, where the angler caught One 40-pound Dorado on bait.
Captain Roberto Sandez and Jorge V. took Solo Angler Mark Russell, from Dublin, Ohio, out on the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, where they caught and released One 100-pound Striped Marlin at the 95 Spot on a lure.

Ricardo Escamilla, from Cabo San Lucas, the Captain on the “YAHOO,” a 42-foot Bertram, with Mate Yahoo Jose Escamilla Yahoo headed straight for the Gordo Bank where Ricardo caught and released Four Striped Marlin in the 100 to 130-pound range on lures. It was an excellent day for Ricardo and Jose.

A trio from Magnolia, Texas, Evan Thayer, Robbie Whorton, and Ryan Whorton, chartered the “KARINA,” a 30-foot Bertram with Captain Bruce M. and Mate Arturo L. in charge. They went to the Golden Bank, where they caught Eleven Yellowfin Tuna from 10 to 30 pounds on bait. It was a busy day, but one that they enjoyed.
 
Fun-loving Captain Jaime G. and Mate Luis A. enjoyed the group from Covington, OhioCarla Filbrun, Kevin Filbrun, Lora Filbrun, and Ryan Filbrun caught Twelve Yellowfin Tuna weighing from 8 to 50 pounds on bait 30 miles to the 200 Spot on the “CALIENTE,” a42-foot Cabo Flybridge. What a fun day they had.

“C ROD,” a 38-foot Blackfin, run by Captain Daniel A. and Mates Omar, had Ben Kornblatt, Brian Kornblatt, and Jason Kornblatt from Savannah, Georgia, on board when they ran to the 180 Spot. There, they caught Eight Yellowfin Tuna weighing 10 to 120 Pounds on bait.
They were excited to have caught tuna that weighed over 100 pounds but also exhausted.

Rebecca,” 31-foot Bertram with Captain Jose Ramon Alucano at the helm and Mate Jose G overseeing the cockpit for the group from Jasper, Missouri, Hayden Glenn, Todd Kortni, Rae Brooks, Kylin Ann Smith, Larry Kyle Smith, and Rusty Dale Pennell, they had quite a day by releasing Three 120-pound Striped Marlin at the La Brecha, releasing One 3-pound Silky Shark and Two 12-pound Dorado at the Pozo Cota, all on bait.

Alfonso Ramos, Colby Odell, Justin Churchwell, Justin Lampier, Ramon Barajas, and Willie Ramos couldn’t have been happier with their crew, Captain Ray R. and Hector R., when they walked away from the “LISTO,” a 48-foot Viking, after catching and releasing Two 120-pound Striped Marlin and Three 10-pound Yellowfin Tuna all on bait at the San Jaime Bank.

“TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram, with Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mate Carlos Santos, found Yellowfin Tuna 12 Miles outside of Los Arcos for their anglers, Cindy Engles, Michael Barton, Steve Clower, and Toni Barton from Huntington Beach, California. The group caught Eleven Yellowfin Tuna, ranging from 5 to 40 pounds on bait.

“VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram with Captain Roberto Sandez and Mate Mario Juarez in charge, enjoyed meeting Diego Masotto Mantova from Campania, Italy, and were pleased that he caught and released One 120 pound Striped Marlin on bait and Two Dorado weighing 15 pounds on lures, all at the Los Arcos Spot.  Diego was incredibly excited to see the colorful Dorado but also enjoyed catching the Marlin.  All in all, he had a great time fishing with Roberto and Mario.

“BILL COLLECTOR II” 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Roberto Sandez and Mate Mario Juarez had a couple on board who loved fishing, Carl Eoff and Cheryl Eoff from New Braunfels, Texas. They caught and released One 140-pound Striped Marlin on a lure, and released One 180-pound Blue Marlin on a lure, and Thirteen Yellowfin Tuna, mostly on lures but some on bait.  All were caught 25 miles to the 180 Spot. The couple had a fascinating time fishing with this crew and the crew with the couple from Texas!

From Headland, Alabama, Greg Schroll and Raven Tipton chartered the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge 2, Captain Abel and Mate Ninja running the show. They got two 120-pound Striped Marlin caught and released and Ten Yellowfin Tuna weighing up to 50 pounds on lures and bait/kite, all at the Lighthouse.

David Lowman and Randall Youngblood caught and released One 160-pound Striped Marlin on bait at Brujas Rancho San Lucastwo 12-pound Dorado at Los Arcos, and Six 20-pound Yellowfin Tuna on lures. It was a great, busy day for these two anglers.
 
From Savannah, Georgia, Ben Kornblatt, Brian Kornblatt, and Jason Kornblatt came to Cabo to fish. They chartered the “C ROD,” a38-foot Blackfin, where they were greeted by Captain Daniel and Mate Martin and taken 30 miles to the 180 Spot.  They caught and released One Striped Marlin weighing around 100 pounds and Four Yellowfin Tuna in the 8 to 10-pound range. The weather was beautiful, and they enjoyed their trip.

“LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, Captain Ray Winkler, and Mate Jesus Winkler took their clients, Neil Appleby and Robbin Appleby, from California to the lighthouse outside Del Cerro. There, they caught and released four 120-pound Striped Marlin.

Eleven-year-old Qynne Ketelsen and her family, Addie Ketelsen, Carl Ketelsen, Chris Ketelsen, and Kye Ketelsen,from Marion, Iowa, went fishing on the “KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Tony and Mate Cesar.  They wound up catching and releasing Two 100-pound Striped Marlin and Six 10-pound Yellowfin Tuna, all on bait and all seven miles outside the Lighthouse.

“BBII,” a37-foot Viking Billfish 2018, Captain Osiel and Mates Joel and Gil went to the Cerros de Arena for guests Greg Schroll and Raven Tipton from Headland, Alabama, to catch and release Three 120-pound Striped Marlin on bait.

Solo angler David Lewis from Elizabeth, Colorado, went on the “TIBURON,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Rosendo Gomez and Mate Carlos Santos, and caught 24 Yellowfin Tuna in the 10-pound range and One 10-pound Dorado all on bait outside the Los Arcos.

“ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, run by Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Marcelo, took Blanche Hanford and David Hanford from Nebraska to the San Jaime Bank, where they caught and released One 100-pound Striped Marlin on bait, and One 10-pound Dorado, plus Three 10-pound Yellowfin Tuna, all were caught on bait at the San Jaime.

Mark Eliason, Nathan Eliason, Ronda Eliason, and Steven Eliason, from Uba City, California, were fishing with Captain Daniel and Mates Juan and Martin on the “C ROD,” a 38-foot Blackfin when they caught and released Two 120-pound Striped Marlin, One 4-pound Yellowfin Tuna and Two 3-pound Skipjack, all on bait at the Pedregalito,

Captain Manual and Mate Manual Jr. love to fish. They run the “LA CORONITA,” a 40-foot Cabo Express chartered by Jackson Marriott and Robert Marriott from Colorado, who also love to fish.  They headed to the Rancho San Lucas Spot, where they caught and released Two 120-pound Striped Marlin and One small, 7-pound Yellowfin Tuna, all on bait and all at the Rancho San Lucas Spot.


“BILL COLLECTOR,” a 32-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Niko and Mate Erick got a couple, Gary and Shelley Makovec, Three 120-pound Striped Marlin on bait, which they caught and released, and Two 8-pound Yellowfin Tuna, one on bait and one on a Rapala and One 3-pound Bonito on the Rapala all at the Arcos Spot.

“ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, with Captain Fernando Noyola at the wheel and Mate Marcelo D. running the cockpit, they took Ben Broughton, Jonty Goy, Paul Jarvis, and Simon Mapes, to the Lighthouse where they caught and released Four 120-pound Striped Marlin and One 15-pound Dorado all on bait at the Lighthouse. They decided they had chosen the best time of year.  The fish were biting, the weather was ideal, and the tourist numbers were down. Perfect!

Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Pedro Zamacona took their angler, Thomas Huang, from San Francisco, California, out on the 28-foot Uniflite, “ANDREA.” They ventured 14 miles offside the Lighthouse, where Huang caught Eight Yellowfin Tuna weighing between 5 and 50 pounds. He used a combination of bait, kites, and lures for his catches. It was a beautiful day for fishing, with blue skies, a gentle breeze, and temperatures around 85 degrees. There were plenty of tuna throughout the day. Nothing beats fishing in the Sea of Cortez!
