Pisces Fishing Report June 12th to 18th

Back to back Surfacer Swordfish landed on Pisces 35′ Bill Collector 2!

Absolutely incredible week of fishing! We had 100% catch success rate this week, for a total of 91 fishing trips. This means that every single boat out caught fish, but not only that, they caught a diverse group of fish, and a lot of em! Plus we had amazing back to back Surface Swordfish catchES. Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2 is no doubt the highlight of this week, as they landed a 100 lbs Swordfish on Friday and then landed a 300 lbs Swordfish the next day too! Other boats in the fleet also spotted Swordfish and tried for them these days, but were not successful at getting a bite. Still though, boats were landing Big Bull Dorado; Pisces 37’ BBII landed FOUR Dorado over 45 lbs in ONE day, plus 14 Striped Marlin Released! Great Yellowfin Tuna bite, and good Marlin Release numbers. Plus we had some Roosterfish releases thrown in too. Every single boat out had amazing catches, so this report will only scratch the surface with a few highlights from the week! Let’s just say it’s time to come to Cabo with Pisces! This may be the hottest bite we’ve had this year.

The numbers to prove it? We had 197 Marlin releases, plus our Swordfish catches, 133 Dorado with MANY at or over the 40 pound mark, 13 other species like Roosterfish and Sierra or Shark, and 690 Yellowfin Tuna.

100 lbs Swordfish caught on Pisces 35′ Bill Collector 2!

Now let’s dig in… Starting off the weekend Pisces 35’ Bill Collector 2 on Friday the 16th with anglers Abby & Taylor Day, Jacob, Peyton & Tim Cheatham and Jay Spring from Indiana aboard. The group had a day for the books, with 2 Striped Marlin Released, 1 Dorado of about 18 pounds and 1 Yellowfin tuna of about 20 lbs – all these on lures South of Cabo about 25 miles. Then, Captain Juan Carlos Lopez spotted a nice Swordfish on the surface and it took to a live green jack bait pitched by Mate Juan Carlos Martinez.

Next day, The Bill Collector 2 and crew headed out again, this time with anglers Chas Kaufman & Ryan Cooksey. They had 4 Striped Marlin Released between 100 and 140 lbs each on lures and also landed a Tuna of about 40 lbs and were ready to call it a day when they spotted a Swordfish on the surface. It was around 1 pm already at this time and they went on to fight the fish for 4 HOURS before finally landing it! Everyone onboard joined in on the fight, with Mates Juan Carlos Martinez and Jose Gomez also helping out. The Swordfish weighed in at 300 pounds on the dot. The fish took to a live green jack at the 11:50 Spot.

Swordfish catches like this on the surface are a prized catch as these fish are difficult to get to bite and are rarely on the surface. Swordfish fishing like this in Cabo is usually only during a 2 month window, from May to June typically. Only a handful are caught each year for thousands of boats in the area.

WHAT A DAY! Pisces 37′ BBII with 4 Dorado close to 50 lbs, plus 14 Striped Marlin Released!
