All in all, the week produced outstanding fishing. The weather has been in the 80s, and the fish have been spread out. There are not as many boats in the different areas and no competition. You can target almost anything on your bucket list, especially if you are looking for a Striped or a Blue Marlin. There is also plenty of Tuna around, plus this week, there was a nice-sized wahoo caught, along with Dorado, Sailfish, Skipjack, Silky Shark, Grouper, Bonito, Ladyfish, and Needlefish.

“MY WAY,” the 45-foot Viking run by Captain Arturo Silva and Mates Daniel and Josue showed their abilities when they found Five 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin for their anglers from Texas Country. Armand Smith and Shelley Smith released them after they were hooked on caballito and Ballyhooat the 1150 and 95 Spots.

While Captain Ray Winkler and his Mate Jesus R., on the “LA BRISA,” a 31-foot Bertram, had anglers Arjun Mohan, Jeffrey Vargo, Kian Vargo, Nitesh Mody, Rajeev Mohan, and Rochen Vargo aboard. They had an exciting day when they caught and released Two Striped Marlin that took a caballito that weighed around 100 pounds and One Golden Dorado weighing 29 pounds on caballito, both at the 95 Spot.
The 31-foot Bertram, “TRACY ANN,” with Captain Julio Castro at the helm and Mate TracyAnn-Raul Leal running the cockpit, took Ashley Rollo and Miles Rollo from Texas out for only Half-Day and found them Two Striped Marlin in the 85 to 120-pound range to release on the 95 Spot.
Running to the Herradura Spot on the “RUTHLESS,” a 31-foot Bertram, Captain Beto Lira, and Mate Jesus R. found Two Striped Marlin weighing around 84 to 110 pounds that took a caballito and a Ballyhoo and were released by their clients Edgar Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, Margaret Roberson, and Ryan Sanchez from Texas on a Half-Day trip.
When the “FRIDAY BANK,” a 66-foot Viking with Captain Alex Collins and Mates Roberto and Omar, took the group, Cuc Gialketsis, Delilah Gialketsis, Enrique Torres, Frank Gialketsis,
Franklin Gialketsis and Michelle Nguyen out to the 1150 Spot. They began trolling their green and black lure, which was soon taken by a Striped Marlin and released. The anglers dropped a caballito back into the water, and at once, it was also grabbed by a hungry marlin to make their Second Striped Marlin Release that day. The marlin weighed in the 90 to 110-pound range.
“MY WAY,” the 45-foot Viking run by Captain Arturo and Mates Daniel and Josue hit the jackpot for their anglers, Eduardo Gonzalez, Kevin McCormick, Luis Robles, Marco Riperton, Miguel Robles, and Roger Medrano when they put them on Six Striped Marlin in the 100 to 110-pound class, which they promptly released. The marlin bit Ballyhoo and caballito between the 95 and the 1150 Spots.
Akira Ikeda, Sachiko Kunimoto, and Tetsuo Kunimoto were lucky to be fishing with Captain Rosendo and Mate Marcelo D. on the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite when they headed to the 95 and 1150 Spots and made stars out of their anglers. They released an impressive trio of Striped Marlin weighing up to 120 pounds on caballito and curry, and they released a Sailfish at 60 pounds on caballito at the 95 Spot.
Mark Averett and Tracey Averett from Tallulah, Louisiana fishing on the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram with Captain Bruce M. and Mate Salvador Flores, caught and released Two 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin on curry at the Herradura and
Six 10 to 15-pound Yellowfin Tuna on Palo at the Herradura.
The week kept getting better when the “BILL COLLECTOR II,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, run by Captain Juan C Lopez and JC Martinez and Jose Luis, took their group from Aspermont, Texas, Chris Lipham, Harrison Lipham, Preston Lipham, and Tabitha Lipham to the area twenty-five miles outside the Herradura Spot, where they found Six Yellowfin Tuna up to 80 pounds that bit Rapala and Papalote.
Captain Abel, with Jose Luis and Daniel aboard the “RIPPER,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge, decided to run to the 95 Spot for their guests, Cameron Colquitt and Doug Colquitt, where they found them One 100 to 120-pound Striped Marlin to release that hit on a curry 40 miles outside the 180 Spot, and, they landed 12 Yellowfin Tuna from 89 to 164 pounds on curry, Palo, and a kite at that same place.
“VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram run by Captain Roberto Sandez and Mates Salvador Flores and Mario J, took anglers David Rubick, Mark Stafford, and Michael Stafford from Ormond Beach, Florida, to the 95 Spot, where Five 30 to 82-pound Yellowfin Tuna greedily took curry and Palo.
“REBECCA,” a 31-foot Bertram with Captain Jose Ramon Alucano, Mates Jose G. and Cesar Alucano, had a great time with their anglers Gregg Johnson, Kendall Hayes, Marston Hayes, and Roger Hayes from Sun Lakes, Arizona, catching. Nine Yellowfin Tuna weighing 14 to 91 pounds and One Skipjack on Palo and Curry 30 miles from the 180 Spot.
Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Marcelo D., plus the Kohlenberg men (Ean, Evan, and Gary) from Wisconsin, aboard “ADRIANA,” a 28-foot Uniflite, headed straight to the billfish and tuna on the Herradura Spot, where the anglers landed and released a 100–pound Striped Marlin and an 80-pound Sailfish. Both billfish took a caballito, plus One Yellowfin Tuna weighing 25 pounds and Two Skipjack weighing 3 or 4 pounds hooked on Palo and caught on the Herradura.
The group from Houston, Texas, Amy Gilbert, Araceli Gorgano, Mario Gorgano, and Tyler Gilbertfrin, left the docks on Wednesday morning excited for a great fishing day. Their Captain Julio Castro and Mate TracyAnn Raul Leal were just as eager and were full of fun as the “TRACY ANN,” a 31-foot Bertram, raced toward the 1150 and the 95 Spots. In between,they released Three Striped Marlin, weighing around 100 to 120 pounds. The hungry fish took cocinero, Ballyhoo, and lures. They caught Two Dorado weighing 13 and 45 pounds on caballito and One 150-pound Blue Marlin on a white and blue lure in the same area.
The “Bill Collector II,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Lopez and Mate Martinez running the boat, headed to the Herradura Spot and located a Striped Marlin. The Graford State, Texas anglers, including Cole A. Stanley, Matt L. Stanley, and Tammy A. Stanley, promptly caught and released the 120-pound Striped Marlin using a Ballyhoo. Using Palo and lures, they also caught a 35-pound Dorado on Ballyhoo and 12 Yellowfin Tuna in the 20 to 40-pound range.
Captain Jaime and Mate Luis on the “CALIENTE,” a 42-foot Flybridge, took their client, Jaime Gonzalez from Cabo San Lucas, México, outside the 1150 Spot for a 50-pound wahoo which they got on a Tigrillo lure.
Mark Averett, from Tallulah, Louisiana, was fishing with Captain Bruce Montadoand Mate Salvador Flores at the 1150 Spot on the “VALERIE,” a 35-foot Bertram, and released Two Striped Marlin weighing 100 and 120 pounds on lures.
On a Half-Day trip, the “ANDREA,” a 28-foot Uniflite with Captain Fernando Noyola and Mate Carlos S. in charge, took their clients Abraham Salmon, Courtney Summers, Julie Carvalho, from New Jersey to the 95 Spot. There, they hit the jackpot when they scored Nine Yellowfin Tuna, from 15 to 25 pounds, on curry and one Skipjack, 2 to 3 pounds, on curry. They also released One Striped Marlin, weighing around 100 pounds, which took a curry, and One Blue Marlin, weighing around 180 to 200 pounds, took a caballito.
“KNOT WORKIN,” a 35-foot Cabo Flybridge with Captain Israel and Mate Abraham, took their group, which included Cesar Diaz De Leon Sanchez, J. Eddie Mireles, Robert James Mantha,
Rolando Diego Saenz and Zachary Edward Ragland, from Texas, caught and released an estimated 197-pound Blue Marlin on a caballito six miles outside del Faro.
On the “LA CHINGONA,” a 46-foot Viking, Captain Bojorquez caught Eight Yellowfin Tuna from 80 to 140 pounds on a kite and Petrolero 40 miles from del Cerro.
Captain Bruce M. and Jorge Velez took their clients, Allen Martinez and Jerrón Miles, to the Herradura on the “KARINA,” a 3o-foot Bertram, where they caught Six Yellowfin Tuna from 8 to 35 pounds on Palo and pluma.
